Castro, a gay village, in San Francisco is the birthplace of America’s gay civil rights movement. It’s synonymous to Harvey Milk, one of the pioneers of the gay rights movement that is still alive until today.
Last summer, I had the chance to explore the stretch of the gay village from the Castro subway stop all the way up to the hill and on to Mission District where hundreds of interesting murals are all over the place.
I’m not going to talk about the gay bars and gay restaurants here but I’d like to show you part-history and part sightseeing in and around Castro.
